My peppered corys have spawned this morning but i dont have any other breeding nets left as 4 are taken up with new born to a week old gourami fry , can i add some of the eggs to one of these nets safely ?

Thanks sarah x

Hi pippoodle :)

I wouldn't try that because you will not be able to get the cory fry out from under the others once they hatch.

Thanks inchworm hun :)
oh well worth a thought , they'll have to stay in the tank this time and see how they go , moving some of the gourami fry over to a 30 litre in the weekend and getting some more nets so when the corys spawn again i can keep the eggs
my tank going mad the harlequins , rice fish , corys and gouramis all breeding like mad - it's only since i turned the heater down to 20 degrees and let the tank go with the room temp so it drops to 22 at night and with the light on during the day rises to 26 the fish love it , very strange , but i suppose its more natural

Hi pippoodle :)

The cooler temperature is more to your peppered corys' liking than the warmer. I'd be very surprised if you don't see more eggs soon.

Since you have to buy something, why not pick up a plastic specimen container that hooks over the side of the tank to hatch the cory eggs. It's cleaner than a net and you can easily stick the eggs to the sides. Once they hatch they will need to be moved into a small tank anyway. Or, skip that and stick the eggs right into the tank. If you group them together, you can put an airstone under them to minimize loss from fungus. If you put a thin layer of sand on the bottom they will be all set as soon as they hatch.

Good ideas thank hun ;)
