Normally people can't wait for their wood to sink, but I'd prefer to keep it floating as I think it looks better (and my fish seem to be more secure). I'm currently tying golf balls wrapped in moss to my wood. It works, but looks rubbish. Does anyone have any better ideas for keeping wood afloat?

Sometimes it's as simple as the choice of wood, some simply floats and we spend ages weighing it down, however most of what we use was selected because it tends to sink after a while of it's own accord.

The most obvious answer that occurs to me is to attach it to something solid and hide the pedestal. A piece of PVC plumbing pipe would do the trick at the corner of the tank if you can arrange it, if you can hide a couple you'd have a more stable structure.

If you seal it while its dry it should stay floating :)

The other thing I have seen is people attaching the wood to suction cups so they hang from the side, connect it to the wood via a stainless steel screw.

I use suction cups with branches to make them stay upright or along the back of the tank. It works well.

Use a simple construction to "prop" it at the surface. Other bogwood or branches that reach the surface, then support your chosen piece on these, using fine fishing line to secure it in place if you fell it is needed. If you have a central brace on the tank you could hang a piece of that as well, even place something across along the other braces if you want it in a different position.

you can suspend it from two glass strips that fit across the tank using fishing line

Thanks for the responses guys - I'll try fishing line, and if that doesn't work then suction cups

I would give anything to have this problem! Been waiting a month for my wood to sink!
