Hi

I'm probably going to be getting a new tank soon and I've been looking over lots of different combinations. Something I like the idea of is a small group of Black Phantom Tetras and 3 or 4 honey gouramis I'd make sure to keep them in a well planted aquarium. Would this combo be ok or would the Phantoms intimidate the honeys? I've heard they can be very shy.

Well, I think that this may be suitable especially since the tank will be planted. The honey gouramis are probably going to stay around the top of the tank or in the plants and they may hide a good amount which is just sort of their nature. The black phantoms will most likely stay in the middle of the tank and go around and through the plants. I think they would look good together and should be able to be peaceful with one another. I would say to wait for a little more advice from other before going ahead with this though as this is just based on what I know. So in conclusion, I believe that they would do alright together.

Thanks Animalman, any chance anyone else has any ideas or experience of this?

Ive never kept gouramis but my black phantoms are very peacful and dont bother any of my other fish. Im considering buying chocolate gouramis and the feedback from the gourami people so far says my fish (black phantoms) would be compatible. Good choice on the black phantoms I love mine :good:

I also have Black Phantoms and they are very peaceful and stay to themselves. Only have 2 left but I'd like to get more.

every time i set up a new tank and its cycled i add phantoms red or blacks to it as they are great first fish, lost all mine 2 weeks ago  them with Gs go very well in deed, nice idea and would look great together.

I have two honeys and they were shy at first the first 2weeks they hid all the time but now they come out and are looking after them self now and i have some big fish like big blue and pearl gourami and it doesn't bother them. so they will learn to look after themselves :)

Thanks very much everyone :) I'm still not 100% sure what I'll get but this is one idea I like a lot and I feel good about having these guys together!
