Can i keep 1 male and several female bettas together i have read several sites but read diffrent stuff some say no some say yes.

Absolutely NOT! You will get people tell you that they have successfully kept males in with females, but this is a very rare occurance and totally not worth risking the lives of the bettas  Ideally females should be kept in a minimum group of 5 to cut down on bickering within the tank. Males should only ever be housed individually. :)

I was told 7+ females and one male will work. But only 1 male definitely.

A male should never be housed with females, the only success story is fuzzynickies 65 gallons, heavily planted sorority tank, and that is still a little bit risky though

Mine wasn't planned lol. I just had 2 out of 6 females I bought turn out to be PK males! They grew up with dozens of girls and were so laid back they were ok. I would never, ever intentionally mix males and females though! :)

It's better to just house more females together, adding a male is a dangerous risk. Females together can make a beautiful tank as well

Oh, okay.

But only under certain conditions. I personally wouldn't even try to have a sorority, IMO I think that their are too many risks unless you had a 20 gallon tank or larger

I have 5 females in a 10 gallon, I think its just because of their laid back personalities. I let them get used to each other before letting them together, I used dividers to seperate them in the tank for like a week, and then let em go once they were used to each other, I had a handful of fights, but, since then, it's been calm

Here some advice if u just wonted females the more the merryer the more females the better as agression is split between all of them mine dont fight my oldest female chases them a little but never bites or attacks and they dont attack or chase her she is the matriarc of the group :) i recomed at least 7 females and NO males :) or just 1 male :)

I totally agree! The more females the better! :good: I have up to 40 in my female sorority. It is a beautiful sight indeed,- and very peaceful :D
