Keeping Angelfish?

Hi guys,

i have 125litre (about 27 gallons) planted tank, the dimension for my tank is 50x50x50 cm. As for now i have 9 cardinal tetra, 9 Zebra danios, 4 Platy (i see some fry but i dont see how many), 4 mollies and 1 betta. After further research i found out i shouldnt put betta with danios, so i have a plan to move most of my fish to different tank and focus to keep 1 or maybe 2 species of fish in there. The first thing i came up with is angelfish tank. from what i read here https://www.fishkeepingworld.com/freshwater-angelfish/ the minimum tank size for a pair of angelfish is 20 gallon, what do you guys think ? should i keep 1 or maybe 2 angelfish there ? or maybe you guys another idea for stocking this tank ? my another option is to keep the danios since they are my favorite maybe i should stick with them ?

thanks for your time guys !
If one is looking for a pair of fish to keep in a tank of your size look into South American Dwarf Cichlids with a shoal of tetras rasboras or dwarf pencil fish as dither fish.

From the dimensions I assume its a cube. Its too small for angelfish or these mollies and its a bad idea to keep a betta with peaceful fish in.
Angelfish need a 55 gallon tank, and you got wrong the liters.
27 gallons is 102 L
125 L is 33 gallons
Hi ! thanks for the correction, i dont know there's 2 gallons unit (gallons and gallons (US)). Ok it seems i'll stick with the danios then. Thanks !

Dont you mean gallons and UK gallons ;)?

Angelfish need a bigger tank than 20 gallons for sure. For most fish, length is better for than height. So a 20 gallon cube would have far less space than a 20 gallon long.

Angelfish get pretty big.
yup i thought 50cm width is too small, but i thought 50cm height will be sufficient, i think ill buy a bigger tank when i have the money, thanks !

I wouldn't do angelfish. Danios should also have a longer tank, but if you dont have the option to move them, choose other shocking options they will work with danios. Danio tank mates should be other active fish, they will stress sedate fish
do you have any suggestion for centerpiece fish for danios tank ? or maybe fish that will do well in tank this size ?

to be honest i dont know, google converter only list gallon and gallon (US) :(
I was teasing because here we call US gallons just gallons we call your gallons UK gallons :)

There are Imperial gallons and American gallons. In fishkeeping it is always American gallons.
There is a calculator on this forum which includes gallons (both types) and litres. Look in the Useful Links menu (on the right if you are using a PC)

For UK members, it is always safer to use litres when working out a dose rate. Most meds, water conditioners etc use American gallons, but there are some that use Imperial gallons (eg King British) but they don't say which type of gallon in the instructions.

Agreed. Danios are active fish and they need lots of swimming space.

Ahhhhh this is a good idea, i'll read more about them, thanks for the info ! btw they kinda looks and act like a siamese algaeater dont they ?
Kinda similar look but way different:)
