a mollie is this a no no, i have a 10 gallon tank which has got a bit low in stock currently only have six cories and a silver mollie.

yes. usually mollies arent the best choice due to there color, and size meaning that they will intimidate the betta. also. you wont have enough room in a 10 gallon for a betta

I thought they could be kept in smaller than this ?

what is wrong with a betta and a molly? I know a few people(including myself!) who keep both who have never mentioned any problems

i thought ive seen posts where they are kept in 5 gallon tanks ?

mollies can easiy reach 4 inches, have striking colors, and have long fins. considering this they usually arent the best choice for tankmates. also 1 molly, and 6 cories is already a bit much for a 10 gallon guessing that you dont have cories like habrosus, hastatus, and pygmaeus.
also
smudge, i wouldnt start saying that yours do well together to other people when youve only had them together for a short amount of time, usually aggresion can even arise 2 weeks after the betta is introuced

yes i have pygmaeus. Thanks for helping just want to make sure im getting the right info.

Ok so would there be any other fish that would be good for my tank.

I dont mean with mine I just mean I have both, But all of my friends who keep fish happen to have both a betta and some mollies and I have never heard any mention any problems between the two.

yes. but are the mollies large yet? are they colorful? do they have long tails? there are many variables to as why they can or cannot be kept together, its usually just not advised, and just because a few people have been lucky doesnt mean that everyone else will have that same luck

Do you have any advice on what would be good to stock in my tank.

I had always understood mollies did better in brackish setups anyway. I wouldn't put any other fish in that tank though - mollies are far better in 15/20+ US gallon tanks IMHO due to their potential size. If I were you I'd rehome the mollie and get a nice betta :D
