Would it work? He'd be on his own from Friday 4pm to Monday 8am. Is that too long?
And how easy would it be to transport a smallish bowl with filter home when we're on holiday?
Just exploring options here as I really want a betta, but not in my 'main' aquarium. I have a bowl I could adpat but it took me all my time to get H to let me have one tank-he is not budging on letting me have 2 :(
Thanks for any help :)

you would need to have a 3 gallon tank minimum with filter and heater.
also they need to be fed small amounts 2-3 times a day,
so it would not be feasible unless you could set up an automatic feeder.

Controversial but technically It would be fine without the food for the weekend and providing the tank is well setup with a good size and good aquascaping of plants to keep the betta amused, it would be fine. I only feed mine 1-2 times a day depending on my social and college schedule.

I've often wondered about this, but my company would never allow it anyway. It would be too much trouble to try and perform partial water changes at the office, plus it is quite far away from home so going in early or staying late to do so would really stink. If I ever were to do this then I would have to keep the fish in something small enough that I could transport home every Friday, and just do a total water change every weekend. The more I think about it, it just wouldn't be a good idea at all in my case. The fish would be happier at home in a proper tank. I wouldn't want to risk the fish's health for my entertainment at work.
