what do u all think about keeping plecos togeather.
i have a small gold spot pleco that will be getting moved in to a 7 foot tank soon and i have come across a royal pleco (they are very rare in nz) and the lfs has said they will hold him for me if i want him as im a valued customer??? realy want him
what do u all think????

Hows bigs the tank?

Depending on the volume/decorations, i wouldn't see any problems with keeping two plecs together

Well, at one point Me and my wife got a Pleco to go with our 12 inch tin foil barb and our 11 inch pleco. The pleco we got was the same size as the one that was already in our tank. The new Pleco turned out to be very aggresive and it was attacking the other pleco and also the LARGE tin foil barb. It turned out, the Pleco we got was a Rhino Pleco. I suppose they may be very aggresive or, there was just another issue we werent realizing.

I have a few tanks with 2 or more plecs in them. Bigger tanks, or smaller plecs should work out fine.

I think that you should buy the plecostomus becouse i have three in one tank and there has been nothing wrong for at least a year.

i think they are more active with company. For instance, i had a pleco for a while now, he was very boring and didn't move much, i got another pleco in the same 20 gallon, they move both around the tank, but not with each other. (they go like seperate ways)..... i found it unique how they ate my plants, because i was worried about them dying of starvation.... so based on my experiment/observation... it's better to have atleast 2 plecos which will make them happy......

i hyave 1 HUGE common and two small black ones(tiny tiny)in a 200gal and they all seem to be fine

thank u ao much... i soooo want this pleco he is soo beautiful.. :) so i think i will go get him and see how it goes ihave other tanks i can put him in if all goes wrong but hopefully it does not

i have a 29 gallon tank and i have two plecos in it and they seem to be happy so i think yours will do just fine.

In the UK I always see loads of plecos kept toghter!

before I got my plec he was with about 4 others of his species

how come royal plecos r rare in new zealand, there are dozens and dozens in every LFs i go to lol

hey guys! CFS just posted in this thread:
CFC said:
Royal plecs are territorial and should be the only plec in the tank so two isnt a good idea. Their only special requirement is that they have some real bogwood (not mopani) in the tank to rasp on as the lignum forms a lare percentage of their diet, this wood should be replaced or added to every 6 months or so to ensure there is enough.

oh damn dont like that... have not got pleco yet still wanth im abdi htink i will resurch him a bit more..... i definatly dont want the plecos to be unhappy......maybe i iwll just have to not get him.thanks everyone nad thanks for posting cfc post i value his oppinion alot
