Hey everybody.

I am a brand spanking new fish keeper. It's my 21st birthday on 16th March, and my fiancee has bought me a Juwel rekord 120. I am putting the water in on tuesday 4th march to mature ready for the first fish to be introduced on my birthday on the 16th.

The only decision i have made is that i am having around 5 Clown Loaches and
1 Common Plec. I'm thinking about a silver shark, and some barbs, but not sure which. I was in a pet store the other day and spotted some Malawi Cichlids that i really liked, Yellow lab they are called, but i think i will be unable to mix these with the fish i mentioned above. Is that right?

and advice or suggestions would be most welcome.

I have started an MSN group called Lake Malawi, so please go and join and we can all share photos of our tanks and fish, and chat about our ideas and fishy problems.

I hope to make some good new friends here.

Thanks

WELCOME

Great questions and I bet I might have a few of those answers for ya.
But, best to check out the forum... its almost as adictive as fishkeeping... once you hit a success on your tank you will be sure to be in for life :)

There is an African and an American Cichlid section I suggest you repost your questions there.

Once again Welcome Gratz and have fun :)

EDIT...
I couldn't hold back one thing... commen pleco gets too big and poos alot.. skip it or get a bristle nose? or a dwarf.. better yet stick with the loaches :)

Hi Kaine_2k and welcome to the forum :hi:

Fishkeeping is a wonderful hobby; it can keep you interested and eager to learn more for your entire life.

I would caution you, however. about starting out in such an ambitious way. Please read this article about cycling your aquarium:

As you learn more about the hobby, you will realize, too, that your tank is too small for the fish you plan to keep. This is a good place to learn, so ask plenty of questions. There will be someone here who can answer just about anything.

I'll be looking forward to reading your posts. :D

:hi: to the forum!! Im sure you'll find out everything you need to know about what kind of fish to have and just about anything else you need to know!
