k i jioned my 2 tropical tanks into my 20 gallon. So its 3 keyholes and a small school of guppies and ballon mollies. everything went fine except with 1 male gup. The keyholes were chasing him for some reason. and left the other male alone. so i put him back into the 10 gallon. So there is a female betta, a male betta and a male guppy in it. I did the transition cause i wanted to start a coldwater tank. At walmart they have the little half inch egg goldfish. omg! i fell in love! So the plan was to buy one and start the coldwater tank in the ten gallon with the goldie. And some little coldwater fish or something. Well the male guppy is the only thing inpeading that. I heard guppies can live in an unheated tank as long as they are in a faily warm room. My room is warm and at a constant temp. And i've had the heater off for 24 hours now and he's fine. So can i put the little goldie in the tank with the gupp until the goldie gets to big (i know when he's big enough he will eat em). ?

not really the guppy needs to be in a heated tank. The godie needs an unheated tank. :look: also goldfish often take a fancy to a long tail such as the guppies and will nip.and the goldfish will eat the guppy.

I always heard they didn't as long as the tank was in a warm room. And i actaully have fancy guppies in an outdoor pond with 5 comets and they are fine. And when i was like 8 i used to have a betta and a goldfish in the same tank. The goldfish never nipped the betta(the betta didn't either) I never heard of a goldfish being a nipper. I wouldn't worry of the goldfish eating the guppy until about a year though. The goldfish is shorter in lenghth than the guppy. walmart just got them in and there really tiny.

well do it then
but when theres problems dont blame me :dunno:

edit: ok then i withdraw my comment.
sorry for any offence caused
but please if you ask a question be prepared to take the answer instead of egnoring everyones advice! :dunno:

You have 1 ten gallon you want to put the eggfish into, which i must add should be heated to a low tropical temperature but theres a guppy and a pair of fighters in it?

If thats the case then the guppy would probably chew the fins of the goldie as will the fighters. If you have guppies in the pond why not add the guppy to that as well?

You could buy a seperate bowl for the male fighter and put the female in the 20 and the 10 gallon will do the eggfish on its own for a few years.

thanks black angel.
i had the male fighter in a breeder net. (I feel so sad for him when hes alone and he seams so happy when he's in the net watchin the other fish.) so the net is in the 20 gallon now. and there are now 2 females in the 20 gallon which i hesitated at first but after a few circuling and flaring they forgot about each other. i think the fact that theres some schools in the tank they will be to distaracted. And there both really mellow.
Why i dont want to put the male gupp in the pond- Um the gupps in the pond were from a broad of 100 fry. and basically they are the mutants that i didn't want to kill. and i would hate to loss him in it cause he's extremely beutiful. Plus he was my first male gup.
so im gonna try him and see if it works out and if it doesn't he will go to the pond.
well i went to wm today to get them and i somehow tricked the employee by telling him the eggs were only 1.88 and not 4.58 each so at 1.88 i got 2. Guess what that means! .................... Tank upgrade! it will be soon people

Ok then, you ask if it would work out, your told no, then you go on to say it will. Why in the world would you ask in the first place if all your going to ignore peoples advice. No offence or anything, but this isn't the first time you've done that.
Really, you should of waited until you had bought the bigger tank and THEN get the goldfish, instead of sticking them in a 10 gallon and "getting around" to buying a bigger tank, which might not happen, because what if you can't get a larger tank in the future for some reason? Then the goldies will be stuck in the 10 gallon.
And how are you going to feed the guppy its food when the goldfish need different food from it?

for 1 i don't agree with any of her opinions. So i completly ignored it. I much more would prefure a answer from black angel because i know she is very in with coldwater fish. i don't have to listen to someone i personally don't like.\
uh why can't i have 2 juvinile goldies in a 10 gallon and in about 2 months get a 20 gallon. Uh u don't know my financial situation.
I have goldfish food and tropical.... i don't see the dilema. I don't think it would hurt for either to eat a little of one anothers.\
well leaving that behind here's some pics! :)

long and short of it is that if you can't afford to take proper care of an animal, you shouldn't buy it.

it sounds like you may need to learn to budget your money better. for someone who's permanently unable to purchase an appropriately sized tanks due to your "financial situation", you sure do waltz in here talking about new purchases a lot. you know, its amazing how quickly it all adds up at just $4 a pop...

where did you get the idea that i have financial problems.

Just for what its worth the two little fish will be fine with lots of water changes for a couple of months until the bigger tank is bought, wwestar make sure you get the tank sooner rather than later.
