This tank is the perfect size for the corner of my lounge but i've never seen one in the flesh and havnt owned a Juwel tank before. If you have had one can you tell me what you think of it.

1. Is it well built.
2. What's the filter like that comes with it.
3. Would you buy another Juwel tank.
4. How easy would it be to add an Eheim external to it.
etc. etc.

Many thanks

Mark

ive owned 2 juwel tanks and my best advice is cut that useless bloody filter out of it the second u get it home! you might have to notch the lid for an external filter but ive never owned the trigon 190 myself so i wouldnt know but im sure that some of the fine ppl on here will know better :good:

I have never had i corner tank but i do have a juwel rio. In my experience the filters are crap, i've had mine for 6 months and already the heater packed up.
The build of the tank its self is great and the cabinets are good aswell.
Fitting an external should be easy i fitted 1 to my rio no problem.
Hope i've help in some way Dave

That's what I heard. Anyone else?

Have a look at the Fluval 190. Similar price - , better looking than the jewel and external filter. Cant get too technical re filter differences but may give you another option to enquire further. Looks great in corner!

I just got one 2nd hand (6 months old) but I've not set it up yet.

1.Yes, it seems to be very well built.
2.Mine came with an internal fluval 4 +, since the original filter had already broken. So the filter that comes with it must be useless.
3.Yes, it looks very nice and is sturdy with nice clear think glass. If i was allowed another thank i would defiantly get another juwel if i managed to find another one for the same price (mine was £175).
4. You do need to cut holes in the lid for the pipes (very easy to do). I'm going to be using a fluval 305 with mine when the filter arrives this week.

The only thing I dislike about it is the lighting, not nearly enough for growing any plants other than possibly java fern and very easy crypts.
I am going to be adding a t5 36 watt compact to the back panel of the hood to double the lighting, which will be extremely easy to fit on.
Other than that the only thing to note is that you cant turn on the two tubes in the separately without buying an add-on from juwel, this doesn't bother me though because i have no need to turn them on separately.
Oh and also, i you want to grow plants in it, I recommend buying 2 juwel 18w reflectors - which are very good value for money compared to other reflector brands. I plan on getting these too.

Oh and as newtankgirl says, if you were going to be paying around £300 for the juwel tank, you should defiantly get the fluval 190 instead - it comes with good lighting and a very good external filter (fluval 205). Dunno about the actual quality of the tank though, but it does look nicer from a design point of view. Look here.

I've a trigon 190. It was my first tank purchased about 6 years ago.
I hear a lot of people moaning about the filters, but I've always been pleased with mine. I don't have problems with the water stats and my fish are very healthy. As to the lighting, I did change the bulbs, as the shop said the ones that came with it were rubbish. Sounds as though they were probably right then.

The only downside for me is the height of it. It is quite tall and when it has a clean, changing filter floss or I'm putting in new plants, decor etc, I have to stand on a chair. [I'm 5'5"]

I have a trigon 350 an i've had no probs with the filters but i have added a external filter, i didn't cut the origanal lid i made one from perspec an cut the holes in that, i use to have another juwel tank an had no probs with that either, IMO get one that suits your budget and your fish keeping needs cause guarenntee you'l always want to go bigger  I know i do!!!
