Hi Claire, yes apart from the lid design I find the tank very good. I am getting a bigger one because I have a Common Pleco who is outgrowing the tank. The Rekord 96 would be fine for Guppies. The maintenance is easy and everything is easy to get to. It's just when you have to take the hood off e.g. when catching fish and it is really hard to see. :) I used to take the hood off for water changes but now I turn everything off except the light and siphon through the hatches!

Im going to look at a Rekord 96 and 120 tonight, i was thinking about putting guppies into the 96, what do you think? I hear what you say about the lid, but other than that, is this tank ok?

Claire.. i have seen the tank with the cabinet at my LFS (without the hood as i said earlier) and I personally think its great (but im a noob). They have offered me the ex-display (dry) for £150 with the standard filter and kit and the cabinet... which i am tempted by.. if your fine with the lid, then i think you will like it.

If you really like the juwels (personally i wouldnt recomend them but they do seem to be popular) then the Rio range are the better tanks, the Rekord has a solid fixed position hood and only one lighting tube which will make growing plants more difficult.

I am open to suggestions at this stage.. what would you recommend for a beginner like me...?

(but im a noob).

Bit of a put-down isn't it??? Or does it mean something else that I don't know about???

lol..... that would be newbie.. one of the confused learning masses..

joking or not joking, i appreciate your support in me not being what you might have thought it meant.. lol :D :D :D :D

I am having the Juwel Rekord 120 and 96. ( i pick it up on wed )

I see what you mean about the lid on the 120, there are 2 openings, which are ok, but i might find when i do water changes etc, that the whole lid comes off, but i dont mind, i got them for a bargain £110 plus some fish included, and filter media, substrate etc... Bogwood, Rock, Oranment, and some fake plants :D :D

Well i got the tanks :D Wohooooooooooooo

Juwel Rekord 120 and 96, plus 3 Clown Loach, 1 Albino Plec, 15 Guppies, bogwood, rock, pebbles, substrate, filter media etc, fake plants....all for ........... £110

I think its a good deal, the tanks are only 6 and 10 months old, the seller has a Juwel 400 being delivered today, the rest of the fish they have are going to the lfs, and they are housing there Discus in there new tank.
