Hey everyone, ive been told im allowed a juwel rio 400 that ive seen on ebay, its 400litres but how many gallons is that in uk gallons and also is this a good tank?

My Rio 300 is about a year old and has been fine but I have heard a few bad reports, not of them breaking in half mind.

The lighting is pretty crap in the smaller ones but the rio 400 is fine and ther filters take up a fair bit of space but they arent bad filters, how much are you getting it for?

My Rio 400 is three years old & no problems. I added extra lights when it was planted but dropped back to two tubes for the current inhabitants. The filters are good if you keep smallish fish.
I paid £250 for mine on Ebay. (inc cabinet) You have to be pretty rough to break the centre stapping but if you do that you will have broken a galss strapped 5' tank.
I have a 530 litre Aqvastabil effectline tank and I'd suggest these for busy areas or households with kids.

I recently took out a Juwel filter from a Juwel tank, and it was dead easy and the tank looks a lot brighter without it. If you can afford to go external, go for it.

Is it not a hassle to take the filter out?......my tank is oveer stocked at times but I agree that the filter is good enouigh for me.

Well I believe CFC said him and a friend got one at about the same time and he said that the support brace broke and his friends tank broke in half.

Try searching and confirming your thoughts before posting wild random marks.

A tank doesn't just snap in half the glass would bow out putting extra force on the seals and eventually cause a leak and too the far extreme the panel of glass may burst off the tank.

Well thats what I should have said. Never mind I'll just keep my mouth shut because apparently people think every time I say something I'm just trying to raise my post count (which I'm not).

Hi,

I think juwel are great tanks but i agree with Dan on the lighting, i haven't got round to changing mine yet and the standard bulbs are a white and a yellow which gives the water a yellow tinge. If you want to have a planted tank then i'd recommend getting reflectors as my plants are doing a lot better since i added them. I was well ripped off when i got mine i paid £656 for it and could have got it a lot cheaper if i had looked around.

Yeah, I assumed it would have been pretty hard. My filter just died for some reason (I should really have mentioned that in my first post!) so in an emergency I went out and bought a fluval external. Removing the old one was simply running a sharp knife along the edges. Easy stuff.

My rio 300 came with two bulbs, one was a daylight bulb which was a white light but the other was called a "warm white" which is the yellow one, I took that and replaced it with another white light and its bright enough I think

Haven't you been in a discussion like this before, telling people that Juwel tanks are crap and getting contradicted by a lot of people with actual experience? Or am I doing you an injustice and was it somebody else? In any case, I think what all people with Juwel tanks would agree on is that the light is not very good, but then it is easy enough to buy another light bulb.

i have a juwel rekord 96 and i think the light is ok i have had my tank runing about a year and have got nothing but praise for juwel i personaly would buy the rio 400.
