please can someone give me some info I am setting up a juwel rio 400 litre tank (88 U.K Gals) I have removed the internal filter and replaced it with an Eheim 2028 Professional ll External Filter I have a JUWEL 300 WATT heater and I would like to know if you think this heater would be powerful enough for 400 litres The tank size its self is 5 feet x 2 feet x 2 feet and what would be the best temp to keep the tank at for angels, mollys, and a 9" gold plex.

thanks for any help you can give

i would say a little more was needed really.

idealy i would use two 200watt heaters at opposite sides of the tank or use what you have with an additional heater on the other side (a 200 maybe)

temp should be fine at about 78

I have the Rio 400 and the heater that it comes with is the 300W model. My tank has been fine for over a year. Saying that it took the heater 3 days to raise the temp of the cold water I put in there initially. You'd be better off with 2 300W heaters as you then have redundancy and one heater sticking on is not powerful enough to overheat the tank quickly.
If you haven't bought your filter yet you could think about getting the Eheim Pro II Thermo model as they have a heater in them, so removing a bit of kit from the tank.

why do you want to change the set-up juwel supply??

I have the Rio 400 with the original kit and it has all worked fine. You can see that I've got quite a few fishes in the tank (actually got a few more than listed) and find that the water parameters remain stable and I only do a 20-25% water change every 3-4 weeks.

I am new to the fish keeping game (only had the tank since December) so am asking out of interest really. :)
