Hi all,

Just getting back into tropial fish keeping again after 7 years (kids etc!). Just bought a Rio 180 from Jewel and am in the process of setting it up.

I have one question that I cannot fine the answer to - and that is why is there a very thin piece of plastic attached to the top of the light housing. Not the 2 flaps - but the main central lighting unit that holds the bulbs and so on.

It looks as though it's a protective wrapper of some sort but it is well glued on at the edges and the ends. The thing is that it looks rubbish because it is all bubbly and uneven.

Very odd - I'd appreciate any thoughts from others who have bought a 180. I daren't take a chance removing it because it does not look like it will come off cleanly!

Many thanks for any thoughts.

Steve

mmm can't ever remember mine having one, but that's been 3 years since I've set it up. Mine certainly doesn't have anything like that now, so I'd say it's safe to remove it :)

pull it off its just a protection for when its in transit etc

its only a very thin sheet of sticky back plastic or something, mine came of all my rio tanks :p

Yep, it's like the stuff they put on electrical goods. Just peel up one corner and pull, it will come off fine.

Thanks for the replies folks - appreciate the reassurance.

I'll get shot of the plastic now.

Thanks again, looking forward to becoming an active member of this community.

Kind regards
Steve
