Ok i've kept tropicals for over 15 years now and have always wanted to give Marine a go.

I'm keeping my Vision 450 for my Tropicals and am converting the Juwel Rekord 120 to marine.

Today i have ordered......

1 x Eheim Professional 2 External 2028 inc media
1 x TMC V2 Skim 600
1 x TMC V2 Vectron 300
2 x Arcadia T5 54W Twin Controller (34")
4 x Tubes (3 white, 1 blue)
Salt
Hydrometer
Sand
RO Unit

Live Rock (25kg)

Is the hardware up to the job? i will continue to use the internal Juwel Powerhead and add some more later. I can't believe how expensive it all is

I'm gonna fit 4 T5's into the hood of the juwel.

Any advise would be great, i've been reading up lots but info from here is always first class

Cheers

Paul

I would replace the Hydrometer for a refractometer

& aslo add Test klits in there

I would aslo get rid of the internal (they are a waste of precious space) & add a powerhead or 2

the LFS said to leave the internal in...they said it can be useful if i needed to add meds, Carbon etc

It is your choice but Jewel Filters are underpowered for a marine tank

Best replacing with a Seio or Stream IMO

i was going to add 1 or 2 tenze powerheads to the tank at a later date, i only considered keeping the internal to add any chems etc like the lfs said, i was gonna take it out :)

so take it out? what does the refractometer do different?

Chemicals  Now I am worried

Refractometers do the same job as Hydrometers just more accuretly

also is the lighting going to be addiquate for corals etc? got to try and cram 4 T5's under the hood :)

I'd like to have a couple of clowns and an anemone eventually

You r tank will not be suitable for an anemmone tbh (Also clown dont need one)

Lighting is too low, Powerheads & anemones dont mix)

Chac (where the hell are You mate) has posted a cracking thread in the Invert section on Nems have a read

As for Shrooms, Zoa's & Softies you are fine

:( is there anyway i could make it suitable? I dont really want many fish but i love they way the clowns hide in them. Or is the tank just too small.

well moved my stock from the 120 to my Vision 450 today and started to clean out the rekord 120. I'm such an idiot, i've managed to take a big chip out the top of the glass and i have no idea how i did it :(

now i guess i need to buy a new tank as well :( grrrrr

I went to pickup the new tank today and bits i had ordered

I looked at the tank they had, i didnt like the tank they had.....so i ordered a custom made seabray tank. :) so i'll have to wait 2 weeks for that and my lighting hadnt come in yet.

Got most of the goodies though so i started to plumb it all in. Need some more pipe work when i pickup the tank in a few weeks.

now i have a 2 week wait :(

oh and put my RO unit into my garage with a heater and air stone.

:good:

I am glad to see someone actaully taken there time & putting a bit of thought into there setup, far to rare on here recently

Seabrays are well built tanks :good:

Have you read the Pinned Anemone post in the Invert section, this will give you a lot of usefull information so you can make an informed choice regarding keeping a healthy anemone

I actually had lots of fun yesterday planning it all out.

Just finished the final touches to my RO unit in the garage, goes into a nice big dustbin which has a heater and airstone in it.

just flushing it all though now.

I can't wait for the tank now

PS i have read that topic but i will read it again and again.

Also ordered 2 x 6045 Tunze nanostreams for extra flow
