Juwel Powerhead will not restart after water change

Do people on here find that if a power head packs in, it does so after you switched it off for the water change?

I checked the fuse is ok and tuned the impeller a few times to see if it was gunked up (which it wasn't) and it will not restart.

The problem is: The juwel HEATER is in the Jumbo filter box and the water will now get cold unless I do something about it.

Bang goes my 20 min water change !

This is a filter right? I believe so, try putting some water into it to try and get it flowing.  Does it just not turn on?

Take it to bits, Clean all of it and check the fans base isnt worn down, Chances are the fan needs replaced.

have the same problem with mine from time to time
what i do is remove light unit and anything you do not want to possibly get wet
keep power on , remove power head and get a small screwdriver or something similar and quickly touch the impeller blade and pull away quick as not to get trapped this for some reason on mine gives it the kick start it needs.

hope this works/helps

Great - it worked. You saved me a major headache. Does this normally mean it's on the way out? I had to poke it with a screwdriver about 10 tims to get it going and at one point it did start buzzing but the impeller still not turning. techen- cheers but these units can't be stripped down as far as I know, for example, there no way to change the impeller.

it could mean that or needing a new impeller but mines been at it for months now and still working fine apart from this now and then.

but i do have an eheim 1000lph external as well so has never really bothered me

what juwel do you have i have the rio 180?

I have a Fluval 405 as well which I bought off eBay, but didn't know until I opened it up that it is missing the main sponges and only has ceramics and the initial sponges in it. I am also relying on the extra power from the juwel filter box as flow was lacking in my CO2 planted tank.

Coolie you can take it apart . You need to gently pull the grey plastic tabs at the top of the pump gently apart and then you can just gently prise the black plastic piece out from the grey piece so you can remove the impellor and give the insides all a good clean.

Mine actually started doing this last week.

All mine needed was a good clean inside Took me 5 mins to take it apart remove impellor and clean it all and has worked perfectly since.

Think I learned from a Youtube vid how to take it apart but it's simple
