Juwel vision 180 or Fluval vicenza 180? I can't decide.....

Fluval looks slightly nicer cabinet wise IMO, has much better lighting and has a more reliable and external filter. Last time I checked, it was cheaper too.

I would certainly go with the fluval :good: .

I prefer juwel, as, just in my experience, every piece of fluval equipment I have ever bought has broken/packed in. But thats just me (I honestly thing my tap water screws them up!

From what ive read somewhere the new juwel tanks now come with T5 lighting so should be much better than they were

Dont know so much about the fluval, but have exp with juwel vision 260.

Internal filter was ok, but a bit of an eyesore so I ripped it out. The lighting unit was the cheapest piece of crap I've ever seen.
If/When the light does pack in, you'll need to buy a new unit (costing about £75.00 excl del) as its its completely seal so you have no access to the internal wireing. ANd even if you were to cut it open (Like I did) you'll find a cheap 50p chipboard that cant be repaired. Best to just rip it out and replace with an arcadia lighting unit inside the shell of the juwel unit.

More problems (maybe just my bad luck) but front edge sealicon seal broken, tank leaked and had to custom repair it.

I've always had Juwel tanks with no problems. As Grass569 said, they are upgrading their standard lighting to T5s so will be a lot better in future. I think your decision will probably come down to which one you prefer the look of. Let us know what you decide. :good:

it's a tough one to call, i admit. Based purely on aesthetics the fluval has the edge, but I worry with the drilled base tank that it might leak, as I have heard several reports of the fluval externals being leaky. But then with the juwel the large internal filter is unsightly and being a student, I don't quite have the finances to remove it and buy a seperate external filter just yet. I shall have to compare prices to see how they measure up
It's a tough one!

Bear in mind that the juwel internal filters are much much worse than fluval external filters for breaking down ;).

hows that? isnt the internal unit, just a pump connected to a filterbox. The problems I've heard with the fluval external are numerous.. faulty valves, washers leaking etc.

I used fluval external and internal filters for ages (few years) and have only recently switch to eheim because it had a built in heater. They tend to be quite loud and the pipe work on them looks crap but other then that I didnt have too many problems. You have to make sure you get the lid on right though and that the seal is clean or they do leak. I think you would have this problem on any filter though. i have used the 104 upto 405 externals and a couple of internals that I cant remeber the model numbers of :)

I had no problems with the filter on the juwel its still working now 4 years down the line although i now run a seperate ext filter but i am quite well stocked. My only problem with the Juwel tanks is the lighting if you intend on going planted but this is easy to rectify as its only really the tubes that are rubbish so after a while change them to another make like i did. It is also relativly cheap to add extra T8's if you feel you need to ive just added 2 extra for £15 plus the tubes but like i said on my other post the new juwels come with T5's now so should be much better
