Juwel Internal Filter Broken

So ive basically had a mare of a couple of weeks!!!

it all started when i bought some live plants for my tank, figured out that i had been sold non aquatic plants by my lfs grrrrrrrrrrrrr, did my usual water checks and everything was at 0 my nitrate readings even with the nitrate removal sponge is always at least 10!!! Anyway soon the plants didnt look so good so i took them out only to wake up the next morn with a very milky tank and gasping cories!!Immediately i did a wc of 50% and wacked up my air pump, tank still looked bad though but my cories were now ok went to put my filter back on and it spat out loads of white milky cr@p and died!Well i sat there thinkin what else can go wrong, anyway i had already purchased the tetratec ex700 as i found the internal 1 hadnt got enough poke so i quickly set that one up and it is currently running, my prob is that i have just got the blue sponge floating in the tank at the mo is this enough to seed the external?I lost a rasbora this morn and 2 of my honey gourami arent looking to clever either,both of them are not eating and sat in the top corners of the tank, all of my parametres are still 0?Also my tank is still milky looking.

And now i think my heaters on its way out sorry for the long rant but im really worried

The one good thing about the juwel stuff is you can find spares mostly everywhere, from what i have found anyway. Id shoot down to the nearest place that had a replace pump or if you can narrow down the issue to the impeller a new impeller and get it sorted asap. I have the same issue as you but as yet the internal filter is "coping", im in the process of buying a second filter as i have quite dirty fish.

How long have you had the tank? how long have you had the media?

im guessing you bought your rekord between last october and now? if so theyre from china most probably. i would just take the pump back with your receipt and they will replace it.

i bought the tank in june 09 as the juwel 600 was too small for what i wanted, because the media was the same i just swapped it over from the 600 to the 800 which has been used since may 09. All was well until i put those plants in, but tbh i had the intention of taking the internal out anyway as i didnt think it was that good (my 600 one was better) plus it takes way to much room up inside the tank! I think ive had a dodgy one cus my juwel heater is on its way out now!

I have cut some of the sponge and put it in my external to help seed it and the rest of it is in the tank directly by the intake, im hoping that this will help.I have been advised to do daily w/c of 20% for 2 weeks just adding prime (didnt have that so im using API stress coat) i started that on wednesday and my tank is looking much clearer but still 0's across the board! Im now wondering if its my test kit?Im using the API master kit which has been open for about 6 months now?

Its very frustrating to try and pin point where the prob is, the other thing is that i changed from api stress coat to nutrifin aqua plus for 2 weeks all around the same time?

personally, i could not agree more. remove the juwel item. to be fair, even juwel say their filters are for LIGHTLY stocked PLANTED tanks. ignoring the fact that, and juwel say this, the filter has no mechanical filtration.
as for seeding. what you are doing seems fine. though i would wring the sponges, in the tank, into the filter, every so often too. but, i feel, the problem with your tank is, it just not cycled enough for your fish. indeed it may not be cycled at all now!
