Basically water started building up in the cavity beneath the tank (in between tank and the stand) and leaking out the sides and warped the stand slightly. It's an MDF Juwel stand. I looked down the slit beneath them (i think the stand has slightly bent downwards on each side and i could see the water in there which I blew out with my mouth and wiped off. It did this for a few days then I blew it all out and it dried up. I don't know what caused this but It wasn't a leak and i didn't notice any dripping or trickling then.
Now it has started dripping down the back side coming from the top again. I think it could be the evaporation of the hood bt surely Juwel have designed the hood better than that? It's a Juwel Rekord 70 btw, and the water level isn't too high and the filter is submerged.
Anyone know where this is coming from? I've had to wipe it up regularly to stop the edges of the stand getting even more warped and to stop it going on the plugs again (nasty burning smell).
Why is this dripping down the glass so little but dropping so much water?
Thanks!

Well my first plan of attack would be to diagnose exactly where all that water is coming from.....

wrap the tank all the way around the middle with masking tape, try to keep it as flap as possible. this will allow you to see if and where it is running down the sides.

if the masking tape stays un soiled and dry then your tank may have a leak....

other than that i can`t think of where the water may be coming from.

Thanks for your help. The water is coming from the edge of the hood, on the back side. It seems to come down the overhanging edge on the black hood and trickle down the glass. I have seen the water drips. It isn't a constant dripple, I just see one or two drops now and then but over time a lot of water ends up coming out onto the plugs.

you could prop that part of the hood up so that the water runs into the water?

i had this problem on my jewel tank and i cured it by removing the hood and running a bead of aquarium sealent around the lip of the glass- actually on the top of it
i let that dry overnight and refitted the lid and the sealant acted like a gasket to stop the water escaping down the back of the tank
hope this helps :good:
