Hey. This has been baffling me for a while so I thought i'd see if anyone knows about it...

The inside of the glass on my Juwel Rio 125 has a distinct horizontal line in the same place on all pieces where algae starts forming. About 1/4 of the way down. The other 3/4 of the glass grows algae a lot more?!?! It's really odd. If I haven't been round with the algae magnets for a few weeks it's really noticeable.

Do Juwel treat the glass to reduce algae growth? If so, does that mean they've only done a 1/4 of my glass?

Is the tank second hand or been left three quarters full for some time?

A 'tide mark' can leave a deposit around a tank of calcium and stuff and maybe the algae gets a better 'foot hold' in this area. :dunno:

As for Juwel treating the glass that's new on me  If they were doing such a thing then I would imagin they would well advertise the fact

More to do with lighting is my guess and how far down it reaches....what kind of algae you got?

Do you do water changes ;)

In planted tanks this is much easier to see. If someone is having problems with algae in an EI tank their glass only gets it up to the where their water change level is!!!
