Hmmm I've been contemplating doing this, but I also have the Juwel structured background and thought it would be a pain.

I'm also not that impressed with the difficulties involved in filter maintenance on my tank, a corner trigon - getting the bottom filter cradle out involves balancing on a set of steps, inserting a new elbow in my arm and doing my best not to end up in the tank with the fish. :fun:

Also not that impressed with the filtration capabilities of the Juwel internal, so today I've just bought a small hang on Fluval 2+ to give the filtration a boost, and it'll double up nicely for use in a quarantine / hospital tank when I finally get one :D

I still found it hard to take mine off with a craftknife and got annoyed in the end and just ripped it off with my hands, and it was so easy. Just use the knife then to scrape the excess silicone off the glass. I did mine becuase at the time i had a community tank, and all the neons used to get stuck between the glass and the back of the filter, same happened to my poor angel fish. I think its a bad design myself, it'll teach me for buying a Juwel though!
