Hi All,

Just purchased a Juwel vision 180, looking to remove the internal filter and fit the Juwel rock/stone backgrounds.

Hopefully one of you have experience of these, if so could you please answer.

1. Depth of panels?
2. Is it possible to blend the split between the two?
3. Cheap supplier?

Any other information welcome.

Thanks

Dont you just cut the background to size, without removing the filter box. Place the panels together to form the disired look and cut the access of one side either at the glass corner or the filterbox corner whichever suits best.

Thanks BigC.

Could I trouble members who have fitted the backgounds to post picture of their tanks, I would like to see if I can achieve the look I want.

I have in my larger tank the Juwel 3D rock background.

2 pieces costing a lot!

You get the odd bargain on Ebay

As far as the joining of the pieces it is best to slice the edges off and just blend as best you can. As the background 'ages' it becomes less obvious.

I has to cut around my power head which you can do with your filter box as previously suggested. (Unless you wish to do away with the Juwel filter in favour of a better one :hey: )

Hope this helps

Thanks Doresy, I have cut out the filter and will be fitting a tetratec 700. The 'join' was a concern of mine, I am currently 50/50 between the rock and a plane black background. May just flip a coin!!!

The black is cheaper and looks it. I'd go for the rock if your budget allows

Doresy, Could you post a face on photo of your tank with rock background, the wife would like to see it?

Thanks

This is my new cichlid setup, using Juwel background, it might not be very clever but i've cut the panels down to size and fitted them around 2 juwel internal filters as well as along the back wall... looks a treat with my white coral sand.

Thanks Rossyboy that looks fantastic, and better than it looks in the packs by a mile, have you silicon'ed all around the edges to prevent water rising up the back of the panels? Great idea around the filters.

Doresy, come on then, where are your pictures?

The battle of the backgrounds!!!!

If anyone else would like to share their background please do.

Doresy,

Great looking background, thanks. You made it look like one piece I cannot see the join. I am swayed toward the rock as I will also be using light gravel.
