Hi
Please bear with me and read this through, I've tried to make it short....
Was wondering if anyone has had the same problem as we are currently experiencing with a Rio 400. it is 16 months old.
Last night we heard a strangely muffled crashing sound as we were heading off to bed. Didn't know what it was and so just went off to bed anyway. This lunchtime I noticed that the two plastic struts that span the top of the tank from front to back had both come away from the frame that runs around the top of the tank - one was away at the back, one at the front. The glass was bowed out at the front by 12mm. Being Easter Sunday afternoon we had no-one available to get advice from so we dropped the water level in the tank as much as we could which is to the top of the water outlet so as the pump would still work. This reduced the bow to 5mm.
The plastic pieces are, on examination, broken and are cracked across with what looks like stress fractures. the crash we heard was obviously the straps breaking free.
Is there any one-out out there who has had the same or similar experience or who knows of any other remedial action we can take?? Any ideas why this might have happened in the first place apart from poor quality/workmanship?
We are going to phone the retailer in the morning and see what they say about a repair/replacement as the tank is so young.
Many thanks
