does anyone know the capacity of the powerhead for the juwel rio 240. also once i'm up and running for real how much flow do i need to finally achieve, i know this has been asked before but i'm late for work and cant search the forum

Like weeza said you need min 20x turnover.

Not sure how many litres the 240 is but if you look at the sentence below it will give you an idea.

To achieve 20x T/O on a 100L tank you would need a 2000lph powerhead. But best to have 2 x 1000lph powerheads to achieve random flow.

Work out how many liters your tank is then times it by 20 and that will tell you what lph powerhead/s you would need.

Rio 240 is 240 litres so your want at least 4800 LPH minimum. Id would go slightly higher and go for maybe 3 or 4 powerheads at either 1600/1800/2000 lph.

The juwel powerhead on the Rio 240 is rated at 600lph. The tank can hold about 260l. Agreed you want to aim for 20x turnover so about 5000lph coming from at least 2 powerheads.
