The lfs had a batch of Stingray in. There was about 8 of them in the tank and they were just hovering at the bottom of the 10 gallon tank. They were a light grey colour and the guy said that they wouldn't get much bigger, he said that a 15 gallon would be suitable for one. I think they were about £15 each, and he asked me if i wanted to buy one. I said i'll think about it because every time i buy a fish instinctively, something always goes wrong. So i'm asking you (the experts) was there any truth in what the guy said or would I need other tank requirements.

 I know next to nothing about sting rays, but I DO know that a cannot possible fit into a 15 gallon tank. More along the lines for 100 gallons upwards I think..... check with CFC in oddballs.

And on a side note - stingrays for £15 - doesn't sound right at all....... are they even stingrays ??

Ahh, maybe they are freshwater soles perhaps ? :dunno:

I wouldnt think they are stingrays at that price, cheapest ive ever seen any ray for was Tea cup rays (probably P.hysterix) at £45 each for fish with a 4" disk. All stingrays grow to have a minimum of a 12" disk and will require a minimum of a 4x2x2' (100g) tank.

Its much more likely they are some kind of flounder or sole and are probably brackish fish.
