After reading forum after forum about feeding plecos, i finally decided to give it a go as mine has suffered somewhat of a growth stunt, i have had her (i think its a her?) for easily more than 6 months and shees only grown about 1 inch.

Anyhow, i tryed the cucumber thing everybody was raving about.

I simple cut the cucumber, placed it on a small piece of rock, and tied some fluro fishing string around them both, string long enough so that it was leading over the top of the tank so i could simple pull it straight out without a problem.

Night 1: Was left untouched, didnt even come near it. Even tried a green bean, but to no avail.

Night 2: Fresh Piece, Once again left untouched overnight

Last Night: Fresh Piece, Came home thismorning and 1/2 the cucumber slice was eaten, was quiet amazed.

Today: Replaced with a fresh piece and within 5 minutes she was sucking on it, seems the cant get enough of the stuff.

Just wanted to report my good news, and to kinda document how long it took.

Hopefully the freshness and vitamins and stuff will help her, thou have ordered her some sinking pleco algae stuff online.

=)

Cheers

Most plecs enjoy cucumber, and once its softened cichlids and livebearers will nibble on it too. However, it contains virtually no nutrition. Now your catfish has learned about vegetables, try other, more nutritious things. Courgette (what Americans call zucchini) is particularly good; so too is sweet potato and carrot. Tinned peas are another favourite.

Cheers, Neale
