Just Started My River Reef 50

oh, that was quicker than i thought only been running for 4 weeks, suppose the cured rock helped?

just doing another test now.

done a test all spot on :good:

i have some live rock left over from when i set up the tank (now dead) is it worth breaking it up and sticking in the rear chambers or will this affect the water?

No, its not worth it, if it were live then yes, by all means put in the back chambers

ive got a clown fish in there now :) got him/her on tuesday, its feeding well but still hiding away alot of the time, still settleing in i guess?

i know some people wont agree with putting a clown in it, but my lfs assured nme it will be fine, and will be getting a bigger tank next year.

is it normal for clown to hide away for a while after being introduced?

hi guys, just tghought id get the camera out and give you a bit of an update. i got a finger coral from my lfs today im realy happy with how its all coming together, cant wait to get a few more corals in there :) My clown, (which the other halfs named 'nemo'...how original lol) seems to be doing ok, although hes been in there 2 weeks now and still hides most of his time other when its feeding time.

I had a similar mark at the base of a toadstool I once had, didn;t seem to cause a problem

finger corals are ace when they settle and spread mines gone huge!!

cheers mate

I can only draw from my own experiences but would certainly recomend xenia, when it flows in the flow it really adds to the reef effect
mushrooms are a favourite of mine cheap and easy
zoas are cool and looking at mine now riccordeas and trumpets are great as well and cheap enough to buy

think im going to go for a xenia, i realy like the look of the and like you say they flow realy nicely.

ive just noticed my finger coral is goin a green/greying color on the tips since i put it in earlyer, is this normal? im guessing its just sulking

they look horrible whensulking but when they come out happy they look spot on with the little polyps coming out

Mines been a bit sulky last few weeks since I moved it plus its huge now and taking a loadofspace

Your finger coral is looking awesome mate really nice size. I think nemo just needs a companion you should add in another clown fish and you will see them both dancing at the front screen lol. I haven't been updating my thread but I just got my clown a few days ago and he or she is following around my molly where ever it goes in the tank. Its pretty obvious that it needs another clown friend. Pink Pulsing Xenia is a really good choice but I should let you know now before you experience it that they grow like wildfire as people say. You can even make them grow all over your back glass and its a really nice effect for your aquarium.

There are many people giving away xenia for free as soo much of it grows in their tanks. Have a look around in your area.
