ive got one in quite a small tank, (have no fear there is a pond outside for when he's too big) the shubunkin was lone and rather stressy so i replaced the water and gave him/her a friend (the goldfish) they are both calm and the shubunkin rarely leaves the goldfish's side,

question is should i put the goldfish in the pond now and buy another shubunkin?

Dont see the point. Just put them both in the pond when its ready

the ponds been there since the house was built (about 4 years) cleaned it out for the first time this year last week, thier just a small companion in my room, need a bigger tank though -_-

If you want some fish for your room then try some white cloud mountain minnows. They are about an inch long and will suit the tank better.

ok thanks for your help ill check round the LFS see what theyve got

this the one? everywhere states different temperatures, mytank sits around 15C most of the time hope the'll survive

thanks again

They take a wide range of temperature so they are fine.

checked my lfs, talk about dead fish in the tanks -_- its no wonder the goldfish i bought from them died within 2 days, there was a dead fish in thier display pond 4 dead ones in the goldfish, a dead one in the larger goldfish and im shure there was a couple of dead ones in one of the tropical tanks, i then checked a garden centre we used to get koi's from they dont sell any tropical fish now and all thier aquariums and hardware are stupid money so ill try a more specialised shop when i have some time to kill and money to spend,

thanks again

down to just the shubunkin now the goldfish didnt really have enough space to swim freeley so he's back in the pond, poor little shub needs a friend he sat in a corner of the tank not moving for a good few hours when his playmate went walkabout

Hi samyboy,

If the little chap looks unhappy why not put him in the pond with the other Goldfish? I'm sure he would be much happier.. You can then get the small aquarium ready for the White Clouds that you are thinking about getting :good:

I had three goldfish who lived in our study in a small aquarium for a year or so, they came from the Fair originally. They have now been built a small pond and are living with others, they now swim around with loads of space and definatly seem much happier.

As for your report on your LFS it is bad in this day and age that certain stores can succesfully continue to survive even though they show signs of bad management. All stores lose fish, but most would remove any dead from their aquariums or ponds before opening the doors to the public. I can never understand why stores ignor dead fish.. not the best advert for their company.

Thats another customer that they have lost, I wonder how many others like you have gone to buy fish and been put off only to go elsewhere..

Regards
Lawrence

still on the hunt for the white cloud minnows although ive now built myself a 24 gallon tank so the shubunkin should be living with them for a year of 2 i think ill use him to cycle the tank untill i find some white clouds, theres another fish store in the opposite direction so ill check there, if not theres one where my dad lives and i think theres a large pet superstore thing at some shopping park nearby........ill find me some white cloud's yet :fun:

ok the shubunkin is now in the outdoor pond with plenty of room and friends (i miss him allready :/ )

and i now have 6 white cloud mountain minnows

 That's great Sam, you have def made the right choice. The Shub should do great in the pond, and the White Clouds are much better suited to the tank. They are interesting little fish and are too often over looked by people in favour for more expensive fish.

Best of luck with them! :D
