Just My 24g Nano-cube

What about a hang on refugium, I have one, there are some pictures in my nano journal, don't need any diy skills, it just hangs on.

Hey there TigerIssey, if i was to fit a HOB refugium to the nano-cube i would have to make some modifications to the hood with it being one of those "Enclosed" systems. This would involve D.I.Y which i do not want to do, i supose i could simply raise the hood but would that degrade the lighting on my corals ?

Thanks JakeKM

Ah sorry did not know you had an eclosed hood. Not sure on the effect of the lights but you may end up with a gap for jumpers to escape, which is not good. Mine works as there is a slight gap at the back of the hood which just has a bottom cover, i cut this with a hacksaw and bent it upwards to allow the return to fit, additionally the rear wall of the tank has a glass brace which does stop jumpers. There may be a way to get it to fit that would require only the very minimum of DIY. If I can use a hacksaw I am sure you may be able to do a little.

Any chance of a photo of the rear of the tank and the part you would need to lift up. There may be a simple solution.

Hey, i'm pritty sure that the refugium you have will not fit between the tank and wall, i would have to possition it on the side. could i have some dimensions on it ? and can you get the same fuge from shops other than eBay, looks homemade ?
i will try and take a pic at some point but you could probaly find the tank its the JBJ nano-cube 24g deluxe.

Thanks

EDIT, this is actually my refugium, the reason it looks homemade is that the acrylic panel inside has been modified to make a baffle. The orinal holed piece was removed and then another piece added that does not go all the way to the bottom. Another smaller piece was then added from the bottom to make the baffle.

Tanks lookin good m8
I'll have to get me some of that xenia

thanks, yer i think that anything like that is going to be to big. I think that the best route for me to take would be to turn the middle chamber into a refugium.

Cheers BigC, its a shame your in Ireland, i could give you some, grows like a weed...

My tank is 20g, the refugium is 2 gallon.

Entirely up to you how you do it. Either way I presume there is a little DIY involved. Advantage withe the hang on is the extra 2g in volume.

Good luck whichever way you choose.

replies sure are quick here
-Yer, theres a little D.I.Y with modding the middle chamber
- I like the idea of that extra stability with the 2g, i just don't know how to mod the hood (without getting a new one) so i can fit it on the side...maybe someone will chime in.

Hello there, been doing my exams for a while but now that everythings over i feel that i should post some more pics and info.
I've got rid of the damsel and instead purchased a yellow candy hogfish (although i'm now concerned about its size suitability for the tank)
Other than that nothing has really changed, just a few growth shots.

i still have the idea of a fuge in the back but its not a pressing matter right now as my nitrate levels remain lower than 5ppm.

Also i'm having a few problems with my green star polyp...it seems to be choking its neighbours, i feel that the only way to deal with this is to prune it back on a regular (and i mean regular) basis.

Thanks all, JakeKM

That's looking really nice :good:

The hog gets to about four inches - so just ensure you keep up with your water changes and you should be ok

Hello there...
Seems to be something wrong with the hogfish, in the past hour its started to roll over (not uncontrolably more like a barrel roll), it rolls and then returns to its normal activities then a little later it will open its mouth wide and roll again. My first thoughts are maybe it has some food lodged, it does pick of some pritty large shrimp from the rock ?
I think its swim bladder is fine because it appears perfectly balanced when swimming normaly.
My stats test fine, corals are fine and the neon goby is fine...any thoughts ?

Thanks, JakeKM.
