just got my betta and need info

what do i feed it beside betta food?
can i keep it in a 1- 4 gallon tank

Better to buy small tank, 10 gallons. Then you can keep good filter and lots of plants in your tank. Male betta need warm water, so you need heater too.

It will probably eat evertyhing you give him, worms, insects, flakes other than bettas food... But don't buy food that sinks, it doesn't eat from bottom.

If you buy small tank, 10 gal, you can put couple kuhlii loaches in your tank too..

Sorry to disagree with you Mr. V - my beta eats from the top, the bottom, if fact anywhere there's food. He eats the algae wafers for the plec, the bloodworms for the gobi dragons and clowns, the flakes for the others. He can often be found searching the gravel for titbits with the rest of the ground feeders - he's also first in line when I put the flakes in. He also loves his veggies that I put in for the plec and others - in fact he eats anything and everything

You've got a strange betta there!

We've had three so far, and NONE of them showed any interest to food that wasn't on the surface-unless they had knocked it part way down and could chase it down before it hit bottom.

They have also showed no interest in algae tabs-much to the delight of our previous Raphael cat.

It's good to have a fish that's not too picky, but I believe that your's isn't the average betta!

my betta will eat off from the bottom to he will almost anything I will give him, including chicken but his favorite is fruit flies I have to buy fruit just so I can have them around for him his name is frownyface.
