Just Got Java Fern It Has Brown Dots Under The Leaves

I just got some Java Fern but on loads of the leaves it has these brown lumpy dots going up the back of the leaves. They come of when I rub at them. What are these? Do they need to be washed off

If I remember correctly, they are fine and that's how the plant will propagate/reproduce.

They may be baby plantletts growing.

Can you get a picture. You can just leave them on there and they'll grow into new plants and when big enough you can pull them off

Ferns reproduce by spores. I'm thinking that's what they most likely are.

Nope they shouldn't. You should be seeing leaves growing out from them in a while

Yeah, as said, each of those dots will eventually produce a new plantlet. They are very cool to watch - growing roots and new little leaves unfurling out from under the mother leaf.
