Just got two of them today and as soon i put them on my tank they immediately went in hidding and staying at a hiding spot, i couldn't even find the other one. I'm just wondering if this is normal since they are in a new surroundings or is this a sign of stress?

just keep an eye on him. a lot of new fish will go n to hideing when they are new as they can be a little stressed.

also, :hi: to the forum

ste :)

I just put a rpely to this on another forum. It is normal for them to not come out for days when they first go in a new tank. I would not advise trying to get them to come out as they will feel stressed and unsafe.

:)

Yeah i posted this on fishmadness.com, but i couldn't get on it now, CS is see you there too, do you know if there has been a problem on their site or is it just me, i think they kick me off or something. Anywas i was trying to take a peek, but it seems like they dissapear in thin cloud or something! hope they come out soon cause i like looking at them, their a cool looking fish... :D

LOL

I ow what you mean, it is hard to resist but you should as much as possible. Having the lights out would probably help as they are inquisitive and will come out when they feel safe.

Fish Madness has gone weird for me too. It changed colour to a very nasty red and it was difficult to get into any forum or topics, not the 'page cannot be displayed'.

Very strange.

One of my clown loaches finally came out and is exploring the tank :D There's still no sign of the other one though, I was wondering if i should get another one cause people have been saying that they thrive in a group of 3 or more. What do u guys think? Ignore my tank size as i will be getting a big one soon..

After a couple of hours and when i turn off the lights they both finally came out and i noticed that when the 2 of them is out all they do is follow each other swimming up and down and all over the tank, But i noticed that when the other one is alone earlier he/she doesn't look so active. Are clown loaches supposed to really active fish when in groups? I'm so paranoid right since i've lost enough fish while cycling my tank, I really don't wanna lose this guys cause they look so cute..

Yeha I just got one last night and its doing the same thing. Its kinda cute because its like a little kid. It hides, then run out for a second then runs back to its hiding spot. Its getting used to my tank slowly.

You need to give them more time. What are you feeding them? Mine really like catfish pellets, lettuce and cucumber.

I'll be feeding them with frozen brine shrimp and pellets i guess....And when you say lettuce and cucumbem(regular veggy stuff or you have to buy it from the LFS).

Just regular stuff.

I get a big bit of lettuce (so they are not all fighting over a little bit) and weigh it down with a stone or something. When giving them cucumber I cut a ring of it maybe 1" (can be smaller) and push a small rock into the middle, getting rid of the seeds (I don't think the seeds are good) and getting a means of weighing it down at the same time.

I put them in the tank and when the fish realise they go nuts. It ends up that the loaches are biting into the food and the oter fish are beind them eating little bits that float past.

I leave the food in overnight and usually do it as a treat maybe every 2 weeks or so as well as their other food which I only feed every other day.

HTH :)
