I can't find much info on the internet on this particular fishes care or breeding habits, but what would you guys reccomend foodwise. I have given him driftwood and zuchinni as I understand he is part of a wood eating family of plecostomus. And he is a vegetarian pleoc so I gave him the Zuchinni. Anything else? Is that info wrong? Are they eay to breed dow the line?

I've never kept these... I have heard that they can be very territorial when mature...

They are Panaque, yes the wood-eating genus of pleco.

Keep protein intake to a minimum to avoid bloat, if you are using algae wafers make sure they ain't the cheapo ones that have protein in, Wardleys are good or the Sera ones that have wood in.

I had a fully grown (5 inch +) male and it was pure evil, couldn't live with any of my other plecos, a beautiful fish though.

Right now hes with two common plecos. If he gets too agressive I could put him with my Discus since he is more of a plant and wood eating pleco, but thats risky. Is it worth a try if need be?

yeah i'd say just keep an eye on it for now.

How big is yours, bear in mind i introduced a sexually mature male into a tank with quite a few different L's in it already.

Only problem i can see with keeping with discus (and i have never kept them so correct me if im wrong please) is that they have a high protein diet correct?

Ok I may put him with the discus, but I can't seem to find him. He's hiding and I haven't seen him since the day I bought him. is this normal for emperor plecs as the guy at the store, who apparently knew multitudes about plecos in general, said that these guys were the least shy available.

Plecos are, by nature, shy and nocturnal... to be able to say which species is the "least shy available" is an impossible task - it varys from fish to fish let alone species to species...
