Cheers Dane

im goona hold off a certain id until you can get some more photos..... the joy of snapping loriis!

Yeh I'm sat next to the tank with my camera next to me, he keeps coming out and as soon as i lift the camera to take a pic he darts behind the bogwood  I am determined to get a good pic in the next hour!!

Dane his markings aren't that similar to your 134 but then he could still be one. I'm not experienced enough in L-numbers to comment on shape etc.

Thanks again. gonna get that pic!!

looks like a L052 butterfly to me, seems quite flat looking in your pic as apposed to the L134's

does it look anything like this one?

He doesn't really look like that, his white bits are very white and his black is very dark. He was advertised as a butterfly pleco though :/ Also his lines are much more horizontal than your L052. I almost got a good shot and then my boyfriend walked past the tank and scared him

it is the 168, they are similar but not just different numbers for the same fish. Anyway, it shows how different the colouration can look.

Not great... but better!

Hope these help. Thanks so much all for your help. I really want to know what s/he is to be sure what size he grows to, how to look after him/her etc.

Thanks!

I'd say 134 looking at those.

(btw, I'd call them vertical stripes - looking side on - LOL)

He does look like the L168, and he was labelled as a butterfly plec but it says those get to 14cm! So confused!!

Yeah what happened to the horizontal stripes you were on about

I call horizontal across the body. Vertical is from head to tail. I'm confused about how you guys call it the other way round?!?!

horizontal is flat - like the horizon therefore a zebra plec has horizontal stripes (viewed side on) and your plec has vertical - like the side of a building again when viewed side on. I think you will find most people describle plec stripes that way.

The plec is the right way up when it is laying flat on the sand. It is sideways when it's on the glass etc. The stripes on yours are vertical ;)
