I bought a pair of Blue Acaras about a year ago as juveniles (at the time we couldnt define the sex of each as the colours had not come out). Now i know for a fact i have a pair (Male & Female), but i cant help think that the male looks more and more like a Green Terror...

Can you professionals work out from the pics below if i do indeed have a Green Terror or not?

This Picture is the Female:

These 2 Pictures are of the Male:

The pictures are not the best and dont do the fish justice, but as you can see from the bottom picture my Male Acara is a fair bit bigger than the firemouth thats in the top corner of the picture. The female is about the same size as my firemouths.

Cheers

You see this is what confuses me, my fish looks very much like a Green Terror (Aequidens Rivulatus), however its links like this that confuse me:

Pulcher

This is exactly what my fish looks like (i cant read the language but i googled for the pics).

When googling Blue Acara or Aequidens Pulcher u get fish pictures which look very different.

Going back to my own fish it does not seem as aggresive as i would expect a Green Terror to be. He seems quite peaceful and was even scared of my Sajica which were smaller than him (they have been seperated since my Sajica are currently breeding).

He even gets chased off by my Blue Loach if he goes to enter the Loaches cave.

I dont think its a Hybrid, it came from a very reputable LFS who wouldnt dare stock hybrid fish.

Look like Green Terrors to me.

The one in your link was probably purchased as a pulcher - just as yours was. Not all pictures on the web are correctly identified.

As for not being a hybrid - how would a store know with juveniles? If someone brings in baby Acaras who can tell if they are pure?
Give him time & his true nature will show.
