Don't know about anyone else, but when I restart my filter after maintenance I always get a gunk discharge from the outlet! 
What I do now is cover the outet with an old stocking (panty hose for those on the other side of the Atlantic!
) and leave it there for a couple of minutes then remove. It doesn't half save me having to fish for the gunk with a net!
Anybody else have any useful tips they'd like to share?
