Jumping Barb

As we speak, one of my barbs keeps taking off full speed from the bottom of the tank then jumping out of the water. I can hear his head bumping on the hood. Ive already covered all the places he could jump out of the tank from. What would cause just one of them to do this? It doesnt look like hes being chased. Will it hurt him? Seems like hes whacking his head really hard

Are the lights in the tank on? It sounds like he has some sort of pain if he is trying to get out of the water like that, you say its only one thats doing this, have you added anything to your water or tank?

He does it with the lights on or off,and nope I havent added anythign to the tank lately.

Been adding any additives to the food like extra sugar (glucose!)

Joking aside I have no idea why he should suddenly do this, barbs are a very active fish he's still doing this after two days? Well if he still seems to be swimming ok well then whatever he likes lol. You've got to hope that he'll hit his head in the place where the one brain cell which tells him to jump is then he'll be back to normal

Perhaps someone else can give some more helpful advice...

I noticed hes got a big cut and a few scales missing on his forehead. He hasnt done it since last night, maybe hes learned his lesson.
