my fish jumped out of his tank prob around 12ish and i found him on my floor at 330....took him and put him in the tank thinking he was dead but just to make sure....30 min later he started moving when i went to take him out so i could flush him so i let him stay about 8 hours later he looks absolutly normal exept he will not leave the gravel he just sits there is he like braindead haha since he couldent get oxygen to his brain for like 3 hours haha?

I'm surprised that you even got him breathing again. But adult fish are very resiliant, despite what you may read here...

He may be fine, but think about what you would be like if you were suffocated for 3 hours into a coma - then brought back. You'd probably just want to rest and be left alone too.

hes going to live ... feed him today and hes doing fine no sings of a near death expereice

I'M THINKING HE PROBABLY JUMPED OUT BECAUSE OF A LACK OF OXYGEN IN THE TANK/BOWL, THIS IS NORMALLY THE CAUSE.

DO YOU HAVE ANY KIND OF PUMP OR FILTER IN THERE?

THEY WILL LAST A LONG TIME IF THEY JUMP OUT, I HAVE SEEN IT BEFORE. YOU WILL NEED TO PUT PLENTY OF SLIMY STRESS COAT OR SIMILAR IN TO RELUBRICATE HIS BODY, AS DRYING OUT IS A COMMON AFTER EFFECT.

PUT A TEASPOON OR SO OF SALT IN TOO, TO HELP WITH THE HEALING OF HIS SCALES AND PERHAPS SOME MELAFIX.

KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON HIM AND ENSURE HE DOESN'T START GETTING INFECTED.

TRY TO MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN!

Is the reason why fish jump out of water really because of lack of oxygen? i think without knowing more facts (even the most basic ones) it would be hard to come to that conclusion.

Still, get a tight fitting lid. What sort of fish was it? I know some fish can preserve themselves out of water, for instance, dojos cover themselves in mucus in order to retain moisture.

first of all there is plenty of oxygen i do have two pumps ....it was a convict and hes doing amazing acting absolutly normal so im not going to put salt and all those meds in because first of all i dont want to hurt the other fish in there and i dont beleive in putting meds in the water most of the time when the fish does not really need it thanks alot though for the help...and i do have a cover but were the filter goes in theres about 3 inches of space not filled haha what a lucky/unlucky jump to be able to fit through thatt
