Im after a shoal of 6 corys, they must not grow too big and must be good to look at. I'm considering either panda, or julii, but dont know which to get. The pandas are half the price of the Julii's, is there a reason for this, i.e are they rare? Thanks in advance!

Bear in mind they may be false Jullii's. What do you define as 'too big'? The 'must be good to look at' part is an impossible question, it's personal preference.

Thats very true, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Many of the corys grow to be about 3 inches, but I am after something smaller, like the two mentioned above.

Well to me it sounds like you have narrowed it down. No species of cory's need special treatment (as far as I am aware) compared to others so if you know these are the right size for you, go with your gut! Choose the ones you love the most and will not get bored with :hyper: . My advice? Spend your time observing them and if you still can't decide go with who you think has the most personality, I for one feel this differs between breeds.

And about the beauty thing, I keep bronze cory's which by many are considered to be less desirable but for me they are not only beautiful but I really love their personality, something I feel is less exaggerated the more you have; this is why I personally prefer bigger cory's with fewer numbers as a pose to dozens of tiny ones. :)

Pandas do tend to be smaller than julii (which do tend to be false julii/ trilineatus/three line cory - as these are commonly known has)

Julii tend to reach around 2 inches. pandas slightely smaller - I find with mine Pandas are alot more outgoing that julii' but it is personal preference to which you would prefer :)
