Ok, Basically I can decide wether to do the brackish set up in my 80 gallon or 44 gallon but I am going to start the journal anyway as I will start getting salt etc next weekend either way so I might aswell start now.

Ok Firstly Listing tank specs

Tank Size: Rio 300 (300Litres, 80Gallons)
Dimentions: 48x19x20"
Filtratration: Tetratec Ex1200, Juwel Internal Jumbo (2200 TLPH)
Decor: Coral Sand (25KG)
Fish Stock (Plan): In the 80 gallon, I feel I could get a few more puffers, but would like to hear your view on this. I was thinking about 6 or more puffers. Figure 8's are the puffers I would like. Then how ever many BBGs I can make caves for.

Tank Size: 170 Litres
Dimentions: 48x12x15
Filtration: Tetratec Ex600 & Ex1200 (1800 TLPH)
Decor: Taihtan Moonsand (Black Sand)
Fish stock (Plan): I was thinking around 3-4 puffers and how many BBGs I can make caves for.

Comments: Hydrometer just arrived today in the post, Will be getting salt, decor etc next thursday.

Stay Tuned :D

Edit:
Almost forgot to mention I am buying a 30 litre fish tank to breed snails and shrimps for a constant supply of food :good:. I was thinking Common Pond Snails and Cherry Shrimp (recon Ill need bigger shrimp?)

I'll be watching :shifty: ...I take it the guy didn't want to buy your tank afterall? Well now you have more room for fishies :good:

I'd go for glass/rock shrimps personally. My F8s demolish glass shrimp at an alarming rate so I'd say cherries will possibly be too small once the fish get bigger. My BBGs get to chow down on the leftovers of the shrimps too :D

Nice, Thanks for the help :good:. Itll take me a while to get this started as Im selling two tanks etc and want to get the shrimp/snail tank up and running before I even think of getting the puffer :good:

Yeh go for river shrimp, there about 50p for 10 as apposed to cherries which (around here) are several ££ each. Dispite breeding them it'd still work out cheaper to start with river shrimp, least if they dont breed its not expensive to just buy them each week.

Know any specific shops mate? as I hardly ever see shrimp down here. Only Amano

Really? Wierd, both my lfs always have a tank full to the brim with them. Try asking as a lfs if they get feeder shrimp :)

What are your LFS :D, not like im far away or anything ;)

Bit of an update kind of, Ive decided to get with the 44 Gallon instead of the 80 gallon due to keeping my Mbuna. USB Bluetooth stick should be here soon so ill post pics of both tanks here and the 80gallon in my mbuna Journal. Cash is going to be slow over next few weeks as just quit my job but will do my best to get this project running.

Quick Question though

What are your thoughts of putting a pair of orange Chromides in with the figure 8's, has anyone had any experience with this?

I'm sure it was suggested that they could go in the tank with F8s at my LFS. Neale Monks suggested Florida Flagfish Jordanella Floridae or Xenotoca eiseni to accompany my F8s, the former being good algae eaters which will come in handy if my tank is anything to go by! :good: I think Knight Gobies have been suggested too although they're not a good idea with BBGs.

Yeah he suggested the American Flagfish to me aswell just wanted a bit more of a diverse tank rather then Figure 8's and BBG's, and really fell in love with the color of orange chromides :D

I am thinking along those lines myself at the moment. I may take one of my F8s back/rehome it as it's getting harassed by the dominant one - chased away from food etc  There isn't any biting or such though I'm pleased to say.
