Jimbooo's Vision 450 Journal

Thats like a little army of cory you have there!!!! Tank looks absolutely fantastic mate!! Wish i could get to grips with the CO2 stuff for my tank as i have the substrate but my plants don't seem to be taking off that well. I have the tank just down from yourself with the T5 lights as well. Apart from adding more lights did you change the bulbs on the two that you already had in it?

Thanks

Craig

hi Craig, No the original juwel tubes were left in place plus 2 more arcadia plant pro's. CO2 is quite straight forward. if you ask your questions on the main planted board you will soon get the answers you need. i will never do a tank without it from now on. regardless of light levels the plants will benefit.

Looking great Jimbooo! :good:

I especially like the line of corys you have which are advancing forward through the tank.

Its really turning into another great looking tank. I like the advancing cory army.

What a stunning tank, Jimbooo!

Just an FYI, the plant you couldn't name (and that someone called Parrot's Feather) is Myriophyllum Aquaticum (or milfoil). There's a lovely red version called Myriophyllum Tuberculatum (or red myriophyllum), too. Also known commonly as Parrot's Feather. :D

thanks Merithyn, the Myriophyllum Aquaticum is probably coming out soon. it seems to grow far more slowly than anything else in there and as a result is not as vibrant as the other stems so stands out a bit. funnily enough after a google image search i seem to have added Myriophyllum Tuberculatum in the last batch of plants. now that looks great and is already growing fast. it's a really deep copper colour.

thanks for the ID, most appreciated

Any time. It's one of those plants that I'd like to try at some point, but I can't find it anywhere nearby. I really don't relish the idea of a trip up to Chicago just to get a plant I'm not even sure I can grow yet so I'll let it go for now. But I do think it's a lovely plant.

i've just planted the main carpet. I bought some HC from James3200 and it came entangled in loads of hairgrass which was great as i want that in there as well. after spending 20 mins trying to separate it all i decided on planting a mix of HC and hairgrass through out the forground after all it's going to mix eventually anyway. there was quite a lot of HC but most of it is buried in the pics with just the tips poking out of the substrate. the rest of the stem plants are growing very quickly as well. at least an inch a day some of them two.

Yeah, it looks great! I think a combination of foreground plants gives a natural look, in my new tank I have a mix of E.tennelus, E. latifolius, Eleocharis parvula and Lileapolis brasiliensis all in one foreground.

Looking amazing :) what are you planning to add to the fish stock?
