How easy is it to remove the fillter and case that is fixed to the glass on the rio 300 to give more room and use a external fillter.

I know it would be easyer to buy one without a fillter but there is none i like or in the price range of the jewel, and the lighting system not having to have a splash tray like on most tanks is somthing i would like to keep, are there any tanks that
are like this without a fillter and don't cost an arm and a leg.

Cheers little devil.

the filter box in Juwel tanks is attached with silicon in all four corner on both sides
you need a long thin knife (like the ones that have snap off section) to go between the box and the glass, then it is a simple case of cleaning the glass after removing the box with a razor blade.

FYI
juwel boxes aith all filter media and powerheads sell for around £30 on ebay.
