Hi all

Has anyone got any experience with the jewel built-in filter? I have recently aquired a Rekord 60 and was wondering whether the built-in filter would be as good as my fluval 2 filter?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

it would be my advice to use the fluval 2 filter. some say that the juwel filters are a bit, unreliable, and they are defiantly hard to clean. the fluval 2 filter, also seems to have a better flow rate, though these figures are often not as accurate as you may wish.

I'll second the response above.

I have a Rekord 120 at the moment (upgrading next week to a Aqualife 980). The internal filter clogs up easily, and as said, is not the easiest to clean, as in most tanks, the entire hood has to be lifted to get the media out. Also (atleast on mine) the top of the filter (the lid thing) has a hole in the middle, and two gaps in the two far corners. So many times my loaches and hong kong suckers have got themselves stuck in there. I had to remove the entire insides of the filter in order to get them out. Very inconvenient, and dangerous if they're not noticed go missing.

Internal filters will always be my choice from now on. Also, internal filters take up space in the tank and make it look kinda ugly.. so remove the internal filter, and you'll have a bit more space for your fish/decor.

Right, thanks for that. Its coming out :good:

The fluval option seems more reliable, less costly (if anything goes wrong) and takes up less room. Just wanted that bit of advice before i start butchering the tank!!!!

Thanks again
