:( opps. I think my CO2 cylinder is running out already. I think I've been running it too much (due to paranoia about algae) and I think I may also start using my solenoid!

Anyway, where do you guys get your refills from?

I planned on getting mine from aquatics-online, but have read this can take 3 weeks :| Knowing the luck I've been having recently it will take the full 3 weeks...so are there any fish shops that anyone knows of that do the JBL refills - Surrey/Hampshire border preferably, or berkshire (slough/bracknell/ascot area)? I shall ring around myself this week and post any info I find here as it may be useful.

I've asked my two lfs's - the one said they always carry spares. So all you do is walk in with your cylinder, pay your (approx £10) and walk out with another. Of course you'll not have your own brand spanking new one, but it's very convenient.

My other shop said they do their own refills on site. But I have to freeze my cylinder overnight and bring it in nice and cold the next morning for them to refill. This way you'd keep your own cylinder.

So I guess you just have to phone a few local shops and find out how they do it :)

Most Maidenhead Aquatic outlets carry full cylinders to swap. There are stores in Bracknell and Ascot.

Really? I actually shop mainly at MAQ Woking and Guildford, but when I tried to buy the JBL profi set from there they didn't even know what CO2 was so I assumed they wouldn't have refills. But one should never assume. I shall call them this week. Thanks.

Just thought I'd post my findings...it's worth shopping around.

My CO2 bottle was on 30 yesterday and it says not to let it below so I turned it off and phoned my local maidenhead aquatics (Woking). They said they do the refills but I'd have to take it in before Tuesday and then I can pick up my replacement after Wednesday and that'd it'd cost £10 for a bottle (and doing this would mean not being able to pick up my bottle till the weekend). I ummed and erred on the phone and he picked up on my hesitation and told me that _all_ MAQ have the same policy. Thankfully not believing them I called my next local (but it was engaged). So I tried Iver as I was over that way today...

They are MAQ too, and she said they did refills for £5.99 - and they have them in stock to do a swap. After I had hung up I had an afterthought that I hadn't mentioned gas or pressurized so maybe she was thinking of yeast refills :S

Anyway, popped in today, they had quite a few refills there! £5.99. What a bargain :) I'm dead chuffed. I just need to coinside my CO2 running out with a visit to my parents :) Gonna keep an eye on ebay for a spare bottle I think.

And even better...my boyfriend is getting fishy fingers...each time we go to LFSs he drools over the marine tanks :) I think we'll be setting up a huge marine tank when we own our own place :D

Ive been ringing around about refills...............it seems that if you look in the yellow pages under fire extinguishers you will find (hopefully) local firms that will refill CO2 cannisters on site......this is another option which Im sure will be cheaper.....
