a couple days ago my jawfish started acting weird wasnt coming out a lot. then i noticed towards the bottom of its belly its big and hanging out is a white string...the fish hasnt eaten since it has been acting weird either..sometimes i see it moving rocks around but other than that it doesnt do anything...the fish has been by itself in my tank for a couple of months. Is it possible it got pregnant at the fish store and just didnt show any signs until now?

Given that jawfish are not livebearers this is very unlikely. Further, jawfish are mouthbrooders, incubating the eggs in their mouths.

Trust me if you have ever kept fresh water platys you will know that those dudes have a permanent dump comin out,lol.
