How fast does java moss grow and can i just pull a clump apart and put it in another tank or will it hurt it i also have .8 wpg is that enough ?

Its one of the most undemanding plant. Just take a clump and spread it thin. You may also want to attach it to small rocks / wood and make nice portable pieces for aquascaping. Will grow just fine without CO2 or low light. They like cool water though, 22-24C is best. Some plant / algae eating fish will make them food.

Yes, you can. In breeding tanks, this is often best. In planted display tanks, it can be a nuisance if it is not anchored.

In my fry tanks, I put a ball of java moss and drop a small stone in the middle - it keeps the plant in place. I do this, because when I used to free-float, they almost always found the intake of the power filters and pretty much blocked other particles from entering and ultimatly blocking it.

 It's almost impossible to catch fish in my tank without getting caught in a clump of it. Of course it isn't very pretty either
