i really want some java moss to add to my tank because i am getting 4 kuhli loaches and i am goin to put a little clay pot in the tank.. but i want to cover the pot with some java moss... is it hard to keep alive at all ? and can anyon ehelp me where i can get some from :D

Thanks
Billy

Its very undemanding and easy to grow, it just needs some light. WHen you tie it to the clay pot, I would recommend you use elastic bands rather than fishing line/thread as the khulis might get stuck

hnmmm yeah :)
and i could just advertise on here haha
or ebay :p

ive seen that teh moss comes in balls. can you break it up and drape it over bogwood ?

erm ... well java moss you can.. but im not sure if you are talking about moss balls? :)
java moss is fine too.. i am thinking about doing that too :D

you can't break actual moss balls up. moss balls are different to java moss.
moss balls follow light and move around the tank on their own. they aren't technically a moss, they are a type of algae.
(they won't cause algae in the tank, in fact will reduce the likelihood of algae occuring)

java moss is grown on things like rocks, driftwood etc etc and you can break it up and attach it to other things. it will grow across the area that it is attached to. people use it to make "carpets" in the aquarium or moss walls.

yeah i know that moss balls cannot be broke haha

i have one ... i just didnt know if moochy meant moss balls :p

java moss never find it hard to keep
that's if my gold fish would stop eating it
they love it but no never any bother just throw it in and away it grows
pardon the pun i prefer to use a hair net to attach it
to rocks and bog wood there is some one selling a load on here
somewhere

i guess you was only trying to help :D
because i never made myself clear
no harm done

Java moss may not show much growth for a while. It's easy to grow, but slow to adjust to a new tank, but when it finally settles in, you may be removing quite a bit a week. As long as it's green, you are ok. If it starts to turn brown you know you have a problem.
