I finally found some java moss! For some reason I can never find it in any of the local pet stores or even on most of the sites online that sell plants and fish. But I found some for sale on aquabid.com for only a few bucks AND with free shipping! It came in today in one big ball. This stuff is great! Hopefully, it will grow quickly so I can use it in all of my breeder tanks.

I received some free java moss from a user on here and it's great stuff, needs no attention and looks very natural.

Congrats on finding some, I had a real job finding any!

I have been looking for Java moss for ages and the other day in my LFS they had just got some in :hyper: .

Then he told me the price, £5 for a clump of moss the size of a golf ball   .

I remember years ago I used to be giving the stuff away by the bag full but when I went rift cichlids only I got shot of it all, how I regret that now.

that's weird - i always get mine from java-plants.com with no problems, its pretty cheap too. my only issue is getting the darn stuff to stay alive - after 3 months a tiny piece has finally started growing off one of my decorations..

Try advertising on here in the Buy/Sell forum for a plant trade. Or perhaps offer payment if your ever in the need for more. Im sure someone wouldnt mind passing some along to a felow aquariast. :)

Hi guppymonkey :)

I had the same problem. None of the lfs I go to are particularly big on plants and when they do have them, they want a fortune for them.

I bought some more just this week on AquaBid and hope it does as well as the last batch I got on there. Cory fry love the stuff!

My convict and mosquitofish fry seem to love the java moss. I have been weighing it down so far, hopefully it will grow quickly. I have heard some people say that java moss is really easy to grow but others have said that its hard to grow.
