The flash was only on for the third one, I think it is more a case of cheapish camera. I was refering to the browning of the leaves.

Yes, I know what you are refaring to. I am of the opinion that it is far too bright for a java fern in your tank. It is likely that I am wrong. But I've kept these ferns for a long time with floating plants which subdue the light.

I'm only on about 1.1wpg at the mo.

I have had the same problem and would love to know how to resolve it.

I think its becasue I dont dose with Ferts. I have 3 WPG Lighting with Pressurised C02 and still no joy :(

Classic signs of nutrient defficency.

Swords are 'root hungry' plants, so I suggest you get some root tabs...

Err, no fertiliser at all? With 3wpg and CO2 you need to be adding pretty much everything, the Estimative Index pinned thread is a good start and is more than suited to such a high light tank. Loads of light with CO2 but no fertiliser is asking for nutrient deficiencies and algae :)

Never mind his problems, what about mine!! It's my thread, help me ;)

I have heard that Java Fern do suffer if they are given too much light.

These plants are normally the easiest of aquatic plants to grow...

OK, not that then..

TPN+ is OK for Secondary & micro (trace) nutrients, but not sure about NPK content for the all important Macro nutrients.

I'll have to check when I get home...
